Dr. Austin received his Medical Degree from New York Medical College and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the SUNY-Nassau County Medical Center. Mr. “Skip” Rivard is a second generation optician who specializes in Ortho-K and scleral lens fittings. He began his career in opticianry and contact lenses as an optical apprentice in the family business. Mr. Rivard received his formal postgraduate education in Contact Lens Technology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas.
Mr. Rivard has a Masters in Ophthalmic Optics, is A.B.O. and N.C.L.E. - Advanced Certified and is currently a full-time Professor at Middlesex Community College. He has served on numerous Boards and taught at various schools, colleges and teaching hospitals in Connecticut and Massachusetts including Yale Eye Center. He is the current Executive Director of the Connecticut Opticians Association. In recognition of his six terms as President and his dedication to the profession, he was awarded its first Lifetime Membership, Achievement Award in addition to his many other awards over his years of service to the Opticianry community.
Mr. Rivard is also an honored fellow of the Contact Lens Society of America, associate member of the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists, honored fellow of the Opticians Association of America and a fellow of the National Academy of Opticianry.
